GENRE: Crime, comedy, drama
There is no slicker on-screen comedic duo than Brad Pitt and George Clooney and when these two actors are co-conspirators in some hare-brained scheme or a sting operation, audiences are guaranteed a good time and their latest release, Wolfs, does not disappoint.
Wolfs follows two crime scene cleaners, played by Clooney and Pitt, who are hired by two separate clients to clean up the same crime scene.
Both men prefer to work alone, but when things get complicated and chaotic, they’re forced to work together.
The subtle rivalry between the two is entertaining to watch, with each one believing their way of doing things is the best.
The intentional misspelling of the movie title refers to the fact that each character sees himself as a lone wolf.
Pitt and Clooney’s characters are unnamed, and little is revealed about their backgrounds, adding to the intrigue and mystery of the story.
The two actors work well together and bounce off each other in a way that sometimes feels improvised. Even without words, their mannerisms and facial expressions make their interactions to watch.
At first, the two ‘cleaners’ come across as similar men with similar characteristics, right down to the same clothes, and speech patterns.
As the film continues, the differences become clearer and more distinct. Clooney’s character is formal, and follows his personal procedures to the tee, while Pitt’s character is more improvisational and casual in how he operates.
The storyline is not groundbreaking or thought-provoking — it’s a simple buddy-cop movie that’s fun and entertaining, with a decent amount of action considering both actors are in their 60s.
The ending leaves the story open-ended and offers an opportunity for a possible sequel.
Wolfs is available for streaming on Apple TV.
