Pot O’Curry celebrates fourth year in business

Pot O’Curry epitomises an ideal home-grown takeaway business in that it brings a mix of flavoursome food blended with a good dollop or two of community service.

Initially operating out of founder Tubs Lingham’s Dorchester Heights home, the establishment of Pot O’Curry came about through the inspiration and motivation provided by his mother, chef Vani Lingham.

The business opened its doors at its current premises at Shop 3, Spargs Mall, Beacon Bay on October 1 2019.

Lingham’s innovative approach to his business ensures that he is consistently keeping abreast of the changing and challenging market.

The most recent concept ensures that you can purchase your favourite Pot O’Curry gourmet samoosas at select stores in your neighbourhood. Another fresh approach is keeping the favourites, while adding some new flavours to the mix.

Some of the most popular include rump steak melt, malva pudding or cheese and biltong fillings. If you are looking for more than a snack, you can choose from their delectable curries, which can be served with rice and salad, in a bunny chow or in a roti. They also serve vegetarian curry.

Butter chicken curry remains at the top of many patrons’ lists.

Pot O’Curry not only provides fantastic food though, as the enduring altruistic nature of Lingham is clearly evident as he capitalises on the business’ good reputation and extensive contact base to assist the community.

During Covid-19, the takeaway outlet remained open, ensuring the employment of locals when many other businesses were closed.

In 2021, the Fit For Logan Challenge (in partnership with the GO! & Express) proved a phenomenal success in raising funds for Logan Bartle as well as creating awareness about cerebral palsy. The business also provides on-going assistance to East London non-profit organisations such as Breath of Life (Adopt-A-Child campaign) and Helping Those in Need.

By way of acknowledging the remarkable work done for the community at large, Lingham was a worthy winner in the 2022 Daily Dispatch Local Heroes awards.

It is by God’s grace that Pot O’Curry continues to thrive and yet still assist others during these difficult times.

“Smell the difference” may be Pot O’Curry’s slogan, but “Making a difference” is most definitely their core belief.
