Advance for Life Christian Academy is a member of the Pick n Pay School Club and is in their first year of the four-year programme.

The programme supports schools around the country with CAPS-aligned educational resources to help pupils and teachers throughout the curriculum for each grade.

The Pick n Pay Hero Awards is a special component of the programme dedicated to recognising everyday achievements or heroic acts in South African schools.

“Pick n Pay believes that in each South African school there are heroes who go unnoticed, the little children who go beyond pen and pencil to show generous acts of kindness, bravery, academic excellence, sporting achievements or just an extra mile to help another person,” Advance for Life school’s relations officer Nolu Nxomfo.

A badge and certificate is awarded to a candidate who excels in any of the following categories: academic achievement, overcoming some hardship, leadership, community upliftment and sport.

Mbangeli has excelled academically since Grade R. She has produced outstanding results in all her subjects throughout her schooling and has received academic merit awards for her excellent performance for each grade over the years.

She was therefore presented with the Pick n Pay Hero Award for academic achievement.

A new “hero” will receive an award each month until October this year.
