The Clarendon chess team had a very successful National Girls Schools Festival, coming sixth overall. The results were: 3 wins, 4 losses and 1 draw. Lithitha Qangule beat the highest-rated player of the tournament, which is a significant achievement. The girls interacted with other teams from girls’ high schools from all over the country and took home a lot of lessons about chess strategy, which will be put to good use when Clarendon hosts the festival next year Picture: SUPPLIED
